Jaipur: In a shocking case, a policeman in his fifties has been arrested for allegedly raping a 26-year-old woman inside the compound of a police station in Alwar district.
According to the police, the accused, who is a sub-inspector, raped the woman for three days between March 2 and 4 after the woman had come to the police station to lodge a complaint against her husband.
The woman has alleged that the officer, who is in his fifties and the second-officer-in-command at the police station, raped her for three days between March 2 and March 4, said Alwar superintendent of police Tejaswani Gautam, reported The Indian Express.
The police said that the FIR in the matter was lodged on March7.
“After we came to know about the incident, an FIR was lodged on Sunday under section 376 (rape) IPC, and Singh was arrested. He is in police custody. A phone recording has also been presented by the woman, which has prima facie verified her accusations,” said the Alwar SP. Action is being taken against the SHO of the police station.
The police later suspended three officials including the accused sub-inspector and the SHO of the concerned police station.
The opposition BJP accused the ruling Congress government in the state, saying that it has completely failed in maintaining the law and order situation in the state.
