Severe heat wave reported in parts of Rajasthan

Heatwave captures Rajasthan with maximum temperature reported from Dholpur city in the state. The city reports a temperature of 46.6 degrees on Sunday, reported Dainik Bhaskar. The temperature in more than 21 cities has risen above the mark of 44 degrees when recorded more than once in a day, reported Dainik Bhaskar.

As per the news report, the heatwave is not limited to Bikaner, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer and Churu but is also being felt in the regions near the Chambal region. Regions like Sriganganagar, Banswara, and Hanumangarah have also reported a temperature of 46 degree celsius, said the report.

Due to western disturbances, light storms and rain do hit several parts of Rajasthan during the month of April. However, this year, three western disturbances which appeared in the region could not bring enough rain to the region, said the report. This year, only these regions could only get 0.2mm rainfall, where the average rainfall observed in the month of April used to be 4.4 mm.

Himanshu Sharma, senior weather scientist at Jaipur Mausam Kendra said that back to back anti-cyclonic circulation system and hot westerly winds have led to excess heat in the month of April. “Pressure is created when the system is made and hot waves come near the earth. This is the reason why this time temperature increased on surface level and heatwaves prevailed,” said Sharma, as per the report.
