Rajasthan govt on alert mode to check second wave of pandemic

Jaipur: A sudden increase in Covid-19 cases in Jaipur has put the administration and the government in alert mode and extra-cautious to avoid a situation like that of states such as Maharashtra, where after a short lull, the Covid positive cases are on the rise.

The district administration has also decided that in areas where a large number of such cases will come up, containment zones will be created much like last year.

On March 18, 81 Covid-19 cases were found in Jaipur, while the total number of cases across Rajasthan was 327. This slow increase of cases has resulted in the state government and the administration mulling strategies in order to control further spread of the disease.

At present, there is a total of 3,023 active cases in Rajasthan and the state government is trying hard to keep the pandemic in check.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot chaired a Covid-19 review meeting at the CMR on March 18. Expressing his concerns about the second wave of the pandemic, Gehlot instructed officials to take use of all the available resources at their hand.

He added that in one week, the 3 per cent increase in the Covid positivity rate is worrying.
Gehlot said that till now, his government has been successful in fighting the Coronavirus after taking everyone with them and ensuring effective coordination.
