Mexico is about to see a historic election, where the Mexicans might likely elect its first female president. A country, shadowed by cartel violence, presently has two women leading the contest of the presidential elections.
The country has long been marked by its macho culture. The election is also said to be the biggest in country’s history. Since more than 20 ,000 congressional, congressional and local positions are up for grabs, according to the National Electoral Institute.
The two women presently said to be leading the presidential contest are Claudia Sheinbaum, the former mayor of Mexico City, and Xochitl Galvez, an opposition senator and tech entrepreneur. The number of contested posts has fed bloodshed during the campaigns, as criminal groups have used local elections as an opportunity to exert power.
